Waddey & Patterson is proud to announce the
addition of John F. Triggs to the practice.

Formerly a shareholder in New York City-based Greenberg Traurig, Mr. Triggs was one of 1,700 lawyers with the nation's 7th-largest law firm. During his 35-year legal career, he has focused primarily on patent litigation and counseling, copyright and trademark litigation, trade secrets, and trials and appeals. In April, he was one of 14 Greenberg Traurig attorneys included in the inaugural edition of Legal 500 US - Volume II: Intellectual Property, Media, Technology and Telecoms, an international lawyer-referral guide.

Jack Waddey selected for the technology panel of "CPR"
Jack Waddey was recently selected to be on the technology panel of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution ("CPR"). CPR has as members most of the major companies in the U.S., and many foreign companies. These companies have pledged to use mediation as a method of resolving commercial disputes, and CPR has a very select panel of mediators for its members to choose from to assist in resolving their disputes.

Mark Patterson asked to teach at Vanderbilt Law School
Mark Patterson has been asked to teach a course in "Patents, Trademarks, and Know-How" in the Spring at Vanderbilt Law School. Mark has been an Adjunct Professor at Vanderbilt since 1986.

Waddey Named to two 'Top Attorneys' lists
For the fourth year in a row, Jack Waddey has been selected by Tennessee Business magazine as one of its 'Best 150 Lawyers in Tennessee.'  This annual survey of the state's top legal talent considers the opinions of attorney peers, judges and corporate counsel across the state. This honor follows Jack's recognition -- for the fifth year running -- in the Nashville Business Journal's 'Best of the Bar' program.

Andy Thomson has joined the Firm
We are pleased to announce that Andy Thomson has now joined the Firm after graduating from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University in May. Andy holds a BS, Electrical Engineering from Auburn University and an MS, Electrical Engineering from Florida Institute of Technology. Andy clerked with the Firm as a summer associate for two years. Andy recently passed the Alabama and Tennessee Bar exams as well as the Patent Bar.

Emily Shouse has begun her term as President of the Young Lawyers Division of the Nashville Bar Association for its 2007-2008 year.

Mark Patterson at MSU Seminar
Mark Patterson spoke to students and faculty in the Engineering Entrepreneurship Program at the Bagley College of Engineering, Mississippi State University. As part of the Program's weekly Seminar Series, Mark presented a seminar on IP protection on November 13.

On December 18, 2007, Ed Lanquist to provide an ethics program for the Nashville Bar Association applying the Rules of Professional Conduct to scenes from movies.

Dennis Núñez appointed to the Human Relations Commission
Dennis Núñez was appointed by Mayor Purcell to the Human Relations Commission. The Human Relations Commission mediates and investigates complaints by community organizations and administers programs that bring people from diverse backgrounds together to hold honest dialogues on race relations, cultural and ethnic diversity, and promoting stronger communities.

Tennessee Intellectual Property Law Association Presentation
On November 9, 2007, Mark Patterson made a presentation at the fall meeting of the Tennessee Intellectual Property Law Association. Mark's presentation addressed complications and strategies related to the waiver of privilege triggered by reliance on opinions of patent counsel.
